Message of Islam shared on International Women’s Day by JIH Mumbai Women’s Wing

On the occasion of International Women’s Day (March 8th), all units of Ladies Wing of JIH Mumbai sprang into action with multiple activities undertaken. The theme of the message being passed on this occasion was Stop Violence Against Women and how Islam guarantees Rights and safety to the fairer sex. Lectures & Dars, bookstalls, card and folder distribution, rose distribution, stickers pasting, sharing of messages through Social Media including WhatsApp, spreading of the YouTube video with message against atrocities on women, banners and hoardings, visits and meets with prominent personalities of the society at Hospitals, Colleges, Markets, Old age homes, Social worker offices etc. marked the occasion. Tajalli Productions presents a 1.5minute video message by Women’s wing of Jamaat e Islami Hind on the eve of New year 2016 “Aasha ki ek kiran – A resolution against atrocities against women”.

Vashi:
Bookstall organized at Vashi Railway station. Excellent response seen with Books, leaflets, copies
of Qur’an, all exhausted within 2 hours.

Sakinaka:

  • Program held with 64 participants which included Hamd, Naat, Nazm suitable for the occasion, and speech by Muterma Afifa on the topic ‘Aao Ghar mein Shanti Layein’
  • Cards and folders distributed in Hospitals, Schools, Door-to-door, and markets
  • An article written by a lady member of JIH Sakinaka was published in Inquilab Daily, with the title ‘Aurat hun, kis tarah kahun apne dil ki baat’
  • Stickers were pasted on cars which carried the same message.
  • Distribution of 100 folders, 400 cards, and 50 stickers. Stickers were pasted on cars, rickshaws, and public places

Santacruz:

  • Banners were put at Santacruz to spread the message of Islam related to Women’s Day.
  • A delegation met 8 non-Muslim sisters of NGO Sneha and cards were given to them along with sharing the Islamic viewpoint on Women’s Rights, which was highly appreciated.
  • A visit was made to Municipal Hospital where Doctors and non-Muslim staff available at the OPD were met and cards given to them.
  • Visit to Municipal Khotwadi School was made which involved meeting with the School Principal and Teachers.
  • A lecture was delivered on the topic of ‘Women’s position in Islam.’ Cards were given to the attendees. Subsequent to this, the delegation visited a Marathi medium school as well.
  • Lecture held at Santacruz Juhu coaching classes where the topic was ‘Status of Women in Islam’ which was attended by 18 Muslim and 10 non-Muslim sisters.

Malad:

  • Lecture in school and distribution of cards was first activity carried out.
  • Subsequently, members of the JIH Malad Ladies Wing visited Aadhar Old Age Home and gifted Apples as gifts to the residents. Cards were shared as a gesture, which was appreciated. The management was gifted Quran and Seerah books.
  • A lecture was organized on the topic of ‘Women’s Rights’ at Omkar building on Malad Highway
    Three activities which involved active participation of the members:
    1. Book stall at kurar village
    2. Near shanskar college
    3. Distribution cards rose and books near oberiyo mall and sheila raheja garden

Cheeta Camp:
A debate was held on the occasion of Women’s Day at Trombay Public School, Cheeta Camp. 50 BA girls student participated in this event.

Kurla:

  • Women’s Day was marked with Special bookstall with rose-giving gesture at Mumbai University, Kalina by Women’s Wing. Another book stall was organized at Kurla west railway station.
  • A 2-hour program was held at Kurla SIO office on March 8th. Key topics were ‘Women’s Right in Islam’ by Sister Naeem Fatima, ‘Vivah – Samasya aur Hal’ by Sister Bushra Nahid, Tarana by sister Aliya Rafat & Faiza, and presidential address by Dr. Farida. Total of 100 ladies attended the program along with 4 non-Muslim sisters
  • Stickers were put in 13 trains between Kurla to Masjid Bunder

Jogeshwari West:

  • Halkae khwateen, Jogeshwari (w), distributed cards on this occasion at Jogeshgwari garden, KBs Fair Price store, Outside the mall, Ajit Glass Hospital, and also at Women’s clothing store
  • Dawah work was carried out at Andheri market and SV Road
  • Delegation met 25-30 social workers, the prominent names included Saira Patel of Congress, wife of leading newspaper journalist of Salam Daily Newspaper, and Principal of Oscar School.
  • Members of the unit visited Kokilaben Ambani Hospital and distributed cards to 2 lady doctors, staff and also to patients

Malwani:

  • Hoarding at Malwani
  • A 3-lecture program was organized at Malvani Mhada – Rights of Women in Islam, Status of Women before Islam and after its arrival, Dars on Surah Maryam, which was attended by 43 members from the local community

Millat Nagar:

  • A get-together was organized with non-Muslim sisters on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Eight non-Muslim sisters participated in this. Few prominent personalities who graced the occasion with their presence included Rajul Patel, Shiv Sena corporator; Shaili Fernandes, NGO President; Seema Tripathi, astrologer; and Pummy Chopra, Counselor.

Mira Road:

  • 2300 cards and 1000 folders distributed by Halqa e Khawateen Mira road through following activities:
    • Meeting with teachers and lecture
    • With lady police officers
    • At hospitals
    • Public places and door to door Dawah
    • Bookstall
    • Dawah in train
  • Halqa e Khawateen Mira road addressed the girl students of Asmita College of Architecture on the issue of violence against women and its solution in Islam.
