Malwani Branch of Jamaat e Islami Hind and Students Islamic Organisation of India is doing Relief work during Corona Crisis.

It started from 23rd March and has continued during last 9 days. Till now, 14,700 food packet have been distributed in local area. Everybody living in slum areas, irrespective of their caste and religion has
benefited from this initiative. Due to shortage of funds, it was earlier decided to run this relief work for 2-3 days but local bijnori samaj and other generous people are contributing even in these tough times and we were able to continue it till now and will hopefully do it until the lockdown ends.

SIO, the student wing of Jamaat e Islami, and local bijnori people have joined hands with JIH in this relief activity. The volunteers have taken all the necessary health precautions, while carrying out this activity. More than 60 Ration kits, worth Rs. 60,000 were also provided to some of the very needy people.

Shadan Siddiqui, SIO Member, said “A large number of labourers and manual workers live in the slums of Malvani. They are running short of money and hotels have closed making it distribution of cooked food very necessary.”

Farooq Shaikh , Incharge, Social Service Dept. of Jamaat e Islami Hind Malwani said, “Islam teaches us to not fill one shouldn’t fill his stomach if his neighbours are hungre. Therefore, all over India, Jamaat has called on its volunteers to serve people in this crucial time.”

Jamaat and SIO also planning to extend their efforts and will soon start providing monthly ration.
