Mira Road station
The residents of Mira Road have shown solidarity towards the countrywide public outrage over the Kathua and Unnao rape incidents and the appalling complicity of the government and police force in these cases. Hundreds of Mira Road residents came out to register their protest this morning outside the railway station to contribute to the growing voice of dissent.
Organized by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind as part of its ongoing struggle for justice, the silent protest saw men and women belonging to all religious and political hues put down their signatures and messages as a symbolic gesture of their collective anguish. They have all been unanimous in demanding severe and exemplary punishment to the convicts of these inhuman crimes at the earliest.
It should be known that public outrage over the past week has echoed in the corridors of power, with the central government and the High Courts directly intervening in the matter. It is expected that keeping up the ante would ensure complete and timely justice so that such gruesome acts are not repeated in the future.
