The Mumbai chapter of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) has been raising funds in all its 16 units ever since tragedy struck Kerala. The President of JIH Mumbai, Muhammad Abdul Qadeer has said that Rs. 2599407, have been raised.

Volunteers of the Jamaat could be seen appealing for funds outside masajid and railway stations, often drenched in rain themselves. Also, confident that the money is in safe hands and would be honestly utilized for the Kerala deluge victims, people made a beeline to the Jamaat offices spread out across the city to hand over their contributions. The ladies wing was also not far behind, what with a whooping Rs. 476585 coming as a result of their selfless efforts.

It should be noted that the Jamaat has its own Disaster Relief Wing, IRW, which is active in Kerala right now and Jamaat leaders from Delhi have been personally monitoring the relief and rehabilitation work. The transparent dealings of the Jamaat have made it the most credible choice for people across the spectrum to hand over their hard earned money. If you too would like to extend a helping hand to the flood victims of Kerala, you can send in your contributions online or personally deposit the money at any of the Jamaat’s offices.
