New Delhi, 04 Jan. 2014:
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind views with grave concern that the riot victims of Muzaffarnagar are continuously being made to further suffer. In this respect, the attitude of the government of Uttar Pradesh is very unfortunate.
First, the government failed to stop the riot, and then, up to now, many of the accused are still at large. After that many affected families were paid each Rs. 5 lakh on the written commitment that they would not return to their homes. In this way they would be permanently deprived of their homes, residing places, mosques, institutions etc.
The latest atrocity is the administrations acts of forcefully evicting the victims from temporary camps where they had taken refuge to keep themselves alive in biting cold almost touching zero degree. This is the most unkindest cut of all.
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind demands that U.P. government should stop this atrocity forthwith and take immediate steps to solve the problems of the victims and rehabilitate them. The central government, National Human Rights Commission and the Supreme Court also should intervene.
