Vilification of Hazrat Moinuddin Chishti Ajmeri unacceptable’: Jamaat-e-Islami Maharashtra demands action against TV anchor Amish Devgan.

Mumbai: Hazrat Moinuddin Chishti RA. was a great evangelist of Islamic teachings and human values and an undisputed spiritual leader in the Indo-Pak subcontinent. Hazrat Moinuddin Chishti (may Allah have mercy on him) does not need any introduction of himself. He has a unique identity of his own and the world of humanity has devotion and love for his services. The words used by a news anchor about such a great personality are unbearable.

Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Maharashtra condemns the act of Amish Devgan, anchor of News 18 and calls upon the government to take stern action against the news channel and its anchor. In addition, we demand that a code of conduct be formulated for the use of language in the media with religious and social figures and religious leaders so that national unity and communal harmony can be maintained in the country.

The attitude of the media in the country is becoming more and more biased and provocative. More importantly, the quality of discussion and reporting, especially in the electronic media, is declining day by day. The kind of language and words used for each other during the debate has fallen short of the basic standard of ethics. Some Indian media are working to inflame the peaceful atmosphere of brotherhood and convert it into the sectarianism in the country, which is regrettable and reprehensible. The kinds of words that are being used for the elders of the country are very shameful and insulting.

In this regard, Jamaat-e-Islami Maharashtra President, Rizwan-ur-Rehman Khan appealed to Muslims that they should not be provoked at all. He expressed happiness over the fact that the Muslim youth, while proving themselves to be conscientious and peaceful, have lodged complaints against the said anchor at police stations in various cities and towns. He said that the best remedy for those who spread provocation is to lodge more complaints.

At a time when the country is going through a global epidemic and economic crisis, the irresponsible behaviour of the unbridled media and its disregard for the real issues is a testament to its narrow-mindedness. Jamaat-e-Islami demands the Maharashtra Government to crack down on media houses and anchors who broadcast provocative statements to maintain law and order and brotherhood.
