14 March, Mumbai: Maulana Ilyas Khan Falahi, President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), Maharashtra has spelled out the need to maintain peace and security in the state in the holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement to the media, the JIH Maharashtra President said, “As we observe the holy month of Ramadan by praying, fasting, and giving alms and charity; we must be cognizant of the fact that maintaining peace and security in the state is the need of the hour. Nowadays attempts are being made by some communal forces and anti-social elements to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in the state by spreading division, creating disturbance, and instigating violence and lawlessness. These attempts must not be allowed to succeed. We must try to maintain a climate of love and harmony between communities. The Police and the people must join hands to ensure that peace is maintained.”
Maulana Ilyas Khan Falahi averred, “An environment of provocation hinders the growth and development of our state. Hindering the pace of development is an injustice to the state of Maharashtra and its people. Development and justice should be our topmost priorities. Hence any activity that is detrimental to the peace of the state and acts as a provocation for disturbing the peace and security in the state must be dealt with severely by the Police and the administration without fear or favour. We once again urge the people and the government to give utmost importance to maintaining law and order and make Ramadan a month of peace and tranquility for all. “
