Mumbai: The whole world is crying and feeling shameful every day due to atrocities on women. What’s the solution? The respect and dignity of women is being killed everywhere, in every corners. How to stop it? To ponder over these questions and getting answers to them, JIH Mumbai Women Wing organized a discussion on the occasion of Women’s Day at Andheri on Saturday 16th March. The program featured women from different strata of society.
The program started with recitation and translation of the holy Quran (Surah Rehman versus 1-28) and followed by one important speech “Women in the light of Quran” which threw light on the importance of women in Islam mention the traditions of the Prophet like ‘Paradise is beneath your mother’s foot’ and also Prophet’s promise of granting Paradise to the one, who nourishes his daughters and marry them off.
The main topic of the discussion was “Aurat Mazloom – Zimmedar Kaun?” and the points of discussions included the status of women in current society, deterioration of values and morality, the status of women according to Quran, the atrocities on women – who is real culprit?, etc.
Ms Pooja of Bhartiya Vidhyarti Sangh and Ms Jyotsna Dighe, local Municipal corporator also shared their thoughts on the topic. Speaking as chief guest Ms Jyotsna Dighe first complimented organizers for highlighting a very good subject and then expressed her views on the role media had to play in the subjugation of women and agreed very much that women were still not getting the rights that they deserved.
The symposium was concluded by Tanveer Khannum of the JIH Mumbai Ladies Wing. In her speech she said that Islam gives woman her true status and dignity if followed in true sense.
The program was attended by close to 50 ladies from different strata of society and some NGOs representing women.
