Drug addiction is a growing menace in the contemporary Mumbai society and Kurla has been identified as the second biggest hub in Mumbai post Mahim deeply involved in this evil.

Realizing its duty towards the society, an anti-drug awareness program was conducted by JIH Kurla unit at Anjuman Khairul Islam School, Kurla East on August 14th in this regard.

The program started with Tilawat-e-Quran by Brother Firoz, a student of the same school. Post a brief introduction on the topic, brother Abdul Waheed gave a rousing speech on the subject in the light of Quran and Hadees.

The keynote address was delivered by the prominent psychiatrist from Kurla, Dr. Sajid Khan who has been active in fighting against this peril for quite a long time now. The audience included the school children, the staff and some members from the JIH unit. Giving live examples from his practice where he sees numerous cases related to drug addiction and from his rehabilitation efforts, the lecture was indeed inspirational and loaded with motivation for the youth to come together in building a nation free of this evil.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks and each one of the audience vowed to work towards helping to make a drug-free society.

As part of its policy, JIH Kurla has taken the task upon itself to increase awareness on this issue and bring all like-minded organisations to work together hand-in-hand to fight this growing problem engulfing the youth who is the promise of this great nation.
