Mira Road,14th July 2013: This Sunday morning saw the faces of many poor and deprived families brighten up as they received their share of the Ramadan Ration Kits which were being distributed under the aegis of the Mira Road chapter of Jamaate Islami Hind. This initiative, as part of a continuing effort of the Social Service division of the Jamaat to reach out to the downtrodden, saw overwhelming contributions from scores of men and women seeking their Lord’s rewards. All the 100 kits worth Rs. 1000 each, were either sponsored in whole or part by the residents of Mira Road, the Jamaat serving as a means towards slaking their thirst for charity. The kits contained basic food commodities like food-grains and oil, so that even the less fortunate ones amongst the society may feed their families proper sehri and iftar during the Holy month of Ramzan. The humbling event that moistened the eyes of all present was a result of a month long campaign undertaken by the Jamaat which included surveys to identify the needy in slums and shanties.

Keeping up with the breeze of charity that is synonymous with Ramazan, Jamaate Islami Hind has also arranged for the collection and distribution of zakaat and fitra. The amount so collected would be spent on various social service activities undertaken by the Jamaat round the year, putting a smile on many more faces in the future.
