Islamic Centre, Mira Road
The auspicious day of Juma was made more auspicious today with the launch of the Medical Service Society (MSS) in Mira Road. A special program involving doctors was held this afternoon at Jamaate Islami Hind’s Islamic Centre to facilitate the same.
After a sumptuous lunch that was served after Juma prayers, some thirty-two doctors, medical students and pharmacists sat through a program that promises to change the Medical social service scene of Mira Road inshaAllah. The function started with the recitation of a passage from Surah Al-Balad followed by its translation wherein Allah has exhorted the believers to come together and utilize His blessings in the service of the downtrodden. On the basis of these ayaat, the doctors were reminded of their moral responsibilities and urged to apply their knowledge and skills to serve humanity.
Next, the state president of MSS, Dr. Layeeq ur Rahman Khan addressed the audience and read out the mission, objectives and activities of the organization. The central mission of MSS is to ‘Serve humanity to worship the Almighty’. Its objectives include inculcating moral values among the doctors so as to establish a medical system based on ethics and God-consciousness. He also spoke of the need to conduct medical camps and conferences in addition to collaborating with other like-minded NGOs to publicize Government Health schemes, initiate awareness drives and establish clinics which would run on these noble principles.
He also highlighted the organizational set-up of MSS in light of its constitution, copies of which were distributed among the audience members.
Membership forms, which were handed out to the doctors, received a very encouraging response with 17 doctors being enrolled as members today itself. Dr. Abdul Khaliq was elected President of Mira Road’s local MSS body by an overwhelming consensus and the members nominated a secretary and treasurer among themselves.
This extremely successful meet culminated with a dua asking Allah for His grace, help and acceptance of this endeavor.
