Banegar School grounds, Mira Road

A month since its inception and the Mira Road chapter of Medical Service Society (MSS) already has a feather in its cap. This crisp Sunday morning saw close to 300 patients being served free of cost by the leading doctors of the town at a Medical Camp which was held at Banegar School grounds in association with the Mira Road Medical Association of Family Physicians.

The day started early and with a recitation of the Holy Qur’an just after 8am, reminding the doctors to gather as many good deeds for their after-life as possible. The doctors then started attending the continuous flow of patients till an hour past noon. The patients were required to register at the camp and were each provided with case history sheets. All the patients were tested for Blood Pressure and Diabetes. Blood sugar levels at fasting and post-breakfast were recorded. Select cases were tested for HbA1c and Diabetic Neuropathy. ECG of cardiac patients was also recorded, with separate facilities for ladies. Uncomplicated cases were treated by general practitioners and those requiring expert consultation were referred to the three guest consultant physicians who had come over to deal with complicated cardiac and diabetic cases.

Volunteers from Jamaate Islami Hind- Mira road, a subset of which is MSS, were on their toes throughout the morning helping the doctors and paramedics with their needs. The program concluded at around 1pm and the doctors dispersed after lunch, with the hope that Allah would accept their deeds and grant them the opportunity to serve His creation on many such occasions in the future.
