Goregaon, Mumbai

Last night, a successful business summit titled ‘Government Schemes for Micro and Small Businesses’ concluded here, accomplishing a long cherished dream of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), Mumbai. The purpose of this seminar was to encourage thousands of businessmen involved in traditional and conventional businesses to expand their horizons and inculcate in themselves a vision of being big and accomplished businessmen. The summit sought to introduce the businessmen to the hundreds of beneficial Government schemes that the community is yet oblivious of, such as the recently launched ‘Business Startup scheme’. Around 300 businessmen attended this meet.

The seminar began with the recitation and translation of a passage of the Holy Qur’an. Thereafter, Mr. Afzal Baig (Sec., Dept. of Business and Entrepreneurship, JIH Maharashtra)- himself an accomplished industrialist from Mumbai- delivered the inaugural speech wherein he explained the basics of this division run by JIH and also elaborated upon the purpose of hosting this seminar.

Mr. Mubeen, a successful businessman hailing from Ahmadnagar, presented a PPT on how to establish a new business. He also threw light on the various Government schemes that could help the audience in this regard. Chartered Accountant, Mr. Sameer left the audience fascinated with his informative lecture on taxation.

Next, Brother Zakir Shaikh presented a PPT through which he elaborated on how latest Information Technology can be harnessed to register a growth in business and how the latest market trends can be utilized keeping all Islamic principles in perspective.

Mr. Afzal Baig was invited upon the dais again to share with the audience useful tips and ‘tricks-of-the-trade’ on how they could upgrade their existing businesses. He urged the audience to abandon their age-old traditional business methods and adopt a new and dynamic approach.

In his presidential address, Mr. Taufeeq Aslam Khan (President, JIH Maharashtra) explained how this new department is working successfully and receiving an encouraging response from all quarters and how thousands of businessmen are being benefited from this endeavor of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind. Such seminars have already been conducted in Pune, Aurangabad and Ahmadnagar quite recently, he added. Mr. Khan also touched upon the various other community services rendered by the Jamaat.

And this was by no means the end. As a follow-up gesture, all the participants of the summit have been made members of a closed WhatsApp group to facilitate networking among the businessmen. This group is already witnessing heavy traffic on the first day itself. The prime objective of this division is to inspire and help Muslim businessmen to progress. This event was covered by ETV Urdu and prior registrations were made by means of advertisements in newspapers and social networking sites. InshaAllah, in the near future, a professional business club would be launched to provide better facilities to budding entrepreneurs.
