If we look around, we notice that on face value, Maharashtra has been on the path of development. However the uneasy truth- that most of the people staying here are poor and downtrodden, unemployed, malnourished and have a poor social background cannot be swept under the carpet. They are being exploited in every field, face class-inequality and prejudice. Moral and social values also seem to have been eroded.
It is our duty to strive for the development and progress of the masses and to procure justice and equality for them, irrespective of their class, creed, religion, race or gender.
Accordingly, the Department of Social Service, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Maharashtra is seeking to educate the masses about Social Welfare Schemes and Semi Skill Schemes so as to help them in this regard and guide them through.
A two day workshop on these very lines was organized by JIH Maharashtra on the 29th and 30th of November 2014 at Mehrunnisa Hall, Akola. The benefit of the needy, unemployed, students, divorcees, orphans and handicapped was accorded prime focus in this workshop.
The program began with the recitation of the Qur’an by Mr. Hamid Hussain (President, JIH Akola), following which, the Secretary of the Department of Social Service, Mr. Mazhar Farooq spoke on the importance and purpose of this workshop. President of JIH Maharashtra, Mr. Taufiq Aslam Khan in his keynote address highlighted the importance of Khidmat-e-Khalq in today’s scenario.
Mr. Zahoor Ahmed (Secretary, Education Dept., JIH Maharashtra) explained the Pre-metric, Post-metric, Merit-cum-means and means-cum-merit and norms of scholarship and practical problems about how to claim scholarships and its solutions.
Dr. Kazim Malik explained how a student can benefit from NGOs, Trusts and Maulana Azad Minority Financial Development Corporation etc.
Respected Guest of Honour, Mr. Anil M. Patil (Project officer – DIC Akola) gave a brief introduction about Small Scale Industries.
Mr. Raj Faiyaz of Pune explained how to benefit from Government Schemes for Re construction of houses of villages and cities i.e. Gharkul Yojna, Rajiv Awas Yojna & Indira Awas Yojna etc. and also gave a detailed explanation of Maha e-Seva Kendra, Common Service Center, e-governance project and Setu.
Mr. Malik Abdus Salam explained how Govt. and semi Govt. employees can benefit from NSIC.
On the second day, Dr. Syed Abdul Qadeer (District Organizer RGJAY, Beed) spoke on the medical guidance related to Cancer, Kidney Transplant and Bypass surgeries. He went on to explain how a person can benefit from Rajiv Gandhi Jeevan Dayee Arogya Yojna and further explained how much amount a person gets, what is the procedure to get the amount, what are the practical difficulties patients and their relatives face so on and so forth….
Mr. Md. Naeem (Asst. Secretary Social Service Dept.) shared information about 20% (10+10) charitable hospital medical benefit.
Dr. Umar Farooq (Health Officer – Municipal Corporation, Akola) gave detailed information about primary health related issues, Janani Shishu Suraksha Yojna (JSSY) and how to benefit from these schemes.
Mr. Mohammad Siraj (President, MPJ-Maharashtra) explained how the widowed, divorced, handicapped and senior citizens can benefit from Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Yojna (SGNY) etc. He also explained how the poor section of the society can benefit from Rationing, Right to food (RTF) and Labour Rights.
Three participants shared their overall feedback and expressed their desire to work for the poor and deprived by acquainting them with beneficial Government schemes.
Mazhar Farooq sahab gave an inspirational speech which motivated the audience to struggle for the masses irrespective of their religion, caste, class or gender.
Taufiq Aslam sahab, in his presidential address, encouraged the cadre to positively convert every opportunity they get to please Allah. He advised the cadre to be optimistic in their task, which would make their work easier and their goals would seem more achievable. He concluded the workshop with a dua.
